The Sandcastle...Let's play

The Sandcastle, it never lasts long.
To build it: is it right or is it wrong?
Nobody ever lives in it.
Why does anybody even bother making it?

The first rain or tide will wash the walls away.
Will children even remember their play?
The splenid Sandcastle will become again
nothing more then a sand, dull and plain.

But what can we ask for more?
We live for new ideas to explore.
Time is not only measured by sand,
We measure it any way we can comprehend.

  1. the poem made me think instantly of gonsalves' work...it's true, we live for new ideas to explore, and his paintings show how those ideas grow into whole worlds extending off this one in impossible ways...
and i love the way you used sand in the hourglass as a contrasting image, a perfect little surprise...

  2. Very inspiring indeed. Your words and Gonsalves illusions transports me! 'Castle on the cliff' reminds me of Carlsbad, the stairs are exactly the same...amazing!

  3. I am a big fan of Gonsalves and the way he plays and challenges reality turning it into something fantastic. And your poem captures that spirit and makes me reflect upon time and our own fragile essence... wonderful!!
